On-loan Bucks winger Lee Smith fired 21 goals for Gloucester last season
Forest Green Rovers winger Lee Smith is keen on a permanent move to Telford and insists that he will not return to his parent club once his month's loan ends.
Smith, who only joined Forest Green from Gloucester City in pre-season, was loaned to the Bucks on 12 January.
But, although yet to start a game, he is keen to stay with Andy Sinton's Blue Square Bet North promotion hopefuls.
"I'm not bitter I wish Forest well, but my future lies elsewhere and hopefully that's here with Telford," said Smith.
Smith, 27, scored 21 goals for Gloucester in Blue Square South last season before being invited to step up a level by Rovers boss Dave Hockaday in the summer.
But he has started just six of Rovers' 25 league matches and is keen to move on, having been a rumoured target for both Bath City and Kidderminster Harriers.
"I wanted to stay in the Conference Prem," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "And I had a few offers.
"But my gaffer wouldn't allow me to go to another team in the same league."
Instead, he arrived at the Bucks Head and, although so far having been limited to late cameo substitute roles in the 2-0 win against Stafford on his debut, followed by Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Blyth, he admits: "I want a permanent deal here at Telford."
And, on the back of that reverse at Blyth, Smith is hopeful of a first start when the Bucks host struggling Hinckley United on Saturday.
"I've come in when the team are on a good run so I've had to bide my time," he added.
"But we've lost a game now, so there's every chance I'll probably get a start on Saturday.
"And, when I get my shirt it will take a lot to get it off me because I'm hard working."
