Cliff Akurang the answer to striker problem - Hippolyte

Maidenhead United manager Johnson Hippolyte believes new signing Cliff Akurang will give his side much needed experience upfront.

Hippolyte signed the 29-year-old forward from Blue Square Bet South rivals Thurrock earlier this week.

"Akurang is the answer to our problems. We've got him in to give us striking experience," he told BBC Berkshire.

"He's played in the Conference and the League which many of our players have not done."

The Magpies have scored just 11 goals in 11 games in the Blue Square Bet South and lie in 17th place in the table - seven points off the relegation zone.

"It'll be a boost to the players and hopefully the youngsters can learn from him too," Hippolyte added of Akurang.

"We have not scored enough this season and he'll help us out with that. He gives us other options - give him a chance and he'll put it in the back of the net."

Maidenhead's next match is away to Dorchester Town on Tuesday in the league.
