Scarborough Athletic caretaker manager Paul Olsson wants to be considered for the job on a permanent basis.
Olsson has been in charge since manager Brian France was admitted to hospital after an accident in September.
Olsson told BBC Radio York: "Of course I want the job. I'm an ex-Scarborough player and I know what it's all about.
"I want to get results and I know football is a results-based business, so hopefully I'll put myself in prime position to get the job."
Olsson said that playing for Scarborough in the past is an advantage for him.
"I had some great times at Scarborough when they were in the league and some good memories," he said.
"I know what the fans want. And that's what we're working to.
"It would be nice if I can help bring the good times back to Scarborough."
Chairman Richard Adamson admits that it has been a difficult decision to advertise the post following France's accident.
"He has a contract with us until the end of the season," said Adamson. "But, after talking to his family, including his son who is our assistant manager, it's clear Brian is not going to be out of hospital for some weeks yet.
"And it's extremely doubtful as to whether he'll be back at all this season, when his contract ends," he told BBC Radio York.
"We've had a caretaker manager in position.
"Initially, the results were ok but the last four games have been disappointing so we felt now was the time to see who was available in terms of replacing Brian in the longer term."
