Steele scored a goal that helped relegate Oxford United in 2006
Veteran striker Lee Steele has rejoined Oxford City for the rest of the season.
The 37-year-old Liverpool-based forward only left the club due to the distance from his home and will be allowed to train in his own time on Merseyside.
Steele told BBC Oxford: "[Manager] Mike Ford hasn't left me alone since the start of the season so it was always a case of when not if.
"I'm happy to come back and try and help out and I have also decided it is going to be my last season."
He added: "A lot of the players have been on the phone saying 'When can you come back?' and hopefully I can get in there and score some goals."
The former Oxford United striker had been playing for Evo-Stick Premier Ashton United since leaving Court Place Farm in the summer.
Oxford City are currently second-from-bottom in the Southern League Premier Division table.
