Harrogate Town have brought in young defenders Steve Gardner and Sonny Bradley on loan from Hull City.
Both are regulars in Hull's reserve side and go straight into the squad for Saturday's game at Worcester City.
Harrogate manager Simon Weaver told BBC Radio York: "It has not got any better at the back and that's why we need to make reinforcements
"We attack with numbers but unfortunately it's like two separate teams at the minute."
Harrogate currently lie 16th in the Blue Square Bet South and Weaver is keen to improve the club's defensive record.
"Once it goes past the half way line going backwards we look very vulnerable."
