Ebbsfleet United should not have been relegated - Daish

Daish's Fleet side were relegated after eight years in non-league's top flight

Ebbsfleet United manager Liam Daish says his team should not have been relegated from the Blue Square Premier.

Fleet, who dropped from the top flight of non-league football in April, won 1-0 win at Boreham Wood on Saturday to lie fifth in Blue Square Bet South.

But Daish told BBC Radio Kent: "We had some good players last year and I still think we should be in that league.

"It was only due to the poor start we had and there were (financial) reasons for that."

Daish added: "The likes of Darius Charles, Peter Holmes, Lance Cronin, Magno Viera, Alex Stavrinou - they've all gone on and done well. Magno is on 11 goals at Fleetwood.

"It was just the start that cost us, the end team wasn't that bad."
