Gainsborough boss Brian Little furious as players brawl

Gainsborough Trinity boss Brian Little was left seething after defenders Gavin Cowan and Luke Waterfall came to blows in their 3-1 defeat by Eastwood Town.

The pair were cautioned for the second-half clash, with Waterfall sent off for his second booking of the game.

Little told BBC Lincolnshire: "I've never had it happen to one of my teams before and it's an absolute disgrace.

"It's an unbelievable situation. We keep pressing the self-destruct button and I don't know when it will stop."

Trinity, who are bottom of Blue Square Bet North following the defeat at the Northolme, had the better of the first half and led at half-time thanks to Nathan Peat's 20th-minute strike, but Eastwood levelled within five minutes of the restart through Lee Stevenson before Cowan and Waterfall clashed.

The visitors took the lead on 73 minutes when Blues goalkeeper Phil Barnes hooked an attempted clearance into his own net, with Sam Duncum adding a third seven minutes later.

Little added: "The partnership at the back was great, but they made one mistake and Gav's lost his head which was ridiculous.

"It's like there's something hanging over either me or the group which is quite strange. Every week there's something going on and ultimately I am responsible, but I don't know what I've done for two players to do that."

Boston United remain second in Blue Square Bet North after a 0-0 draw at Vauxhall Motors, despite the Pilgrims dominating much of the game.

In the FA Trophy preliminary round Lincoln United pulled off a great 3-2 win over Barwell at Ashby Avenue with George Zeurner, Jack McGovern and Sean Wright on target for the Whites.

Stamford were 4-2 winners at Atherstone Town thanks to goals from Paul Malone, Simon Mowbray and a brace from Lee Beeson, while Grantham Town lost 2-0 at home to Carlton Town and Spalding United went down 3-0 at Glapwell.
