Boston United chairman David Newton has had talks with joint-managers Rob Scott and Paul Hurst about extending their contracts at the club.

The pair, whose current deals expire next summer, helped the Pilgrims to win promotion to Blue Square Bet North in their first season in charge.

"They want to be here and we want to keep them, so nobody's getting hung up about it," he told BBC Lincolnshire.

"We'd like to tie something up, but we'll take our time."

Newton added: "They want to manage at a higher level and we want to be at a higher level so it seems to fit very well for both us at the moment."

Scott and Hurst are looking for their third consecutive promotion, after leading former club Ilkeston to Blue Square Bet North, before repeating the feat with Boston last term.

The Pilgrims currently sit second in the league after halting leaders Alfreton's eight match winning streak with a 1-0 win on Saturday.
