Manager Darrell Clarke hails loyal Salisbury City fans

Clarke has overseen two wins and a draw in three games this season

Salisbury City boss Darrell Clarke has praised the reaction of the club's supporters following their double demotion to the Southern League.

The Whites were thrown out of the Blue Square Premier in June for not paying their debts in time.

"The fans have been behind us superbly and we just want to keep them happy," the player-manager told BBC Wiltshire.

"It's not been forgotten that in the fans' minds we should be playing two levels higher than what we are."

Salisbury are sitting second in the table following two wins and a draw in their first three fixtures.

Clarke, who was appointed earlier this month, added: "It's great that they're staying behind as that's how we've been successful over the last few years.

"And that's why we're looking to be successful this season."
