David Prutton scored his first ever goal for Swindon to secure a share of the points against Brentford.
Charlie MacDonald put the visitors into an early lead after intercepting a weak back header from Michael Rose and firing past David Lucas.
Prutton levelled for Swindon before half-time though when he headed in Sean Morrison's flick on at the back post.
The home side came closest to snatching victory but failed to test Brentford goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.
Swindon manager Danny Wilson told BBC Wiltshire: "When you give the opposition the impetus to sit behind the ball it's very difficult to get some momentum going.
"If you look at the overall game, the opportunities we've had were far greater than Brentford, but we couldn't break through.
"It's a time when you get a little nervous in front of goal but we'll get through it."
Brentford manager Andy Scott told BBC London 94.9: "We created a lot of chances and looking back on it, we've missed an opportunity to win the game.
"We've had some very good chances and we didn't take them, but that's what happens.
"We'll keep persevering and get on the end of them and they'll start going in."
