Banbury hope Sharriff may stay for longer than a month

Banbury United have secured a one-month loan deal for Rushden & Diamonds striker Nabil Sharriff.

The 18-year-old played during work experience with the Puritans last season and has now agreed a formal loan spell at the Spencer Stadium.

Banbury boss Billy Jeffrey told BBC Oxford: "He is on the verge of the first-team squad but Rushden want to give him some experience.

"I've brought him in as I think we need a bit more pace and strength up front."

Jeffrey added: "We have him for a month initially, but we would like to take him for longer but that depends on the circumstances at Rusden to see if that can happen."
