AFC Telford boss Andy Sinton models himself on Francis
Sinton was manager of Fleet Town before moving to Telford
Telford boss Andy Sinton hopes to emulate the success of his old manager at QPR and Tottenham Gerry Francis.
Sinton has enjoyed a good start to the Blue Square Bet North season with two victories and has ambitions to take the Bucks to a higher level.
He told BBC Radio Shropshire: "Gerry was able to get the best out of people by his man management. He's one of the managers I base myself on.
"I'm a great believer in taking the good from everyone you work with."
He continued: "One of the first things he said to me was to make me believe in myself and said one day I'll play for England. From that day he encouraged me, that left a lasting impression on me."
Francis started his managerial career with Bristol Rovers and guided them to the Third Division title in 1990. A year later he joined high-flying QPR in the inaugural year of the Premier League.
Gerry Francis is first team coach at Stoke City
Francis, 58, is now first team coach at Stoke City with Tony Pulis.
"I've tried to use what Gerry taught me into my style of management. We have a real togetherness in the squad and everyone is positive," Sinton said.
Now boss at Telford, Sinton's side are top of the table after winning both their opening games and play Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.
