Oldham Athletic have signed DR Congo international right-back Rodrigue Dikaba on a short-term contract.

The 24-year-old French-born defender impressed Latics manager Paul Dickov during a spell on trial.

Dikaba, who has nine caps for DR Congo, has played for French sides Arras and AS Beauvais Oise and was at Romanian side Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt last term.

Meanwhile Oldham have registered goalkeeping coach Paul Gerrard as a player on non-contract terms.

The former Latics and Everton goalkeeper, 37, also has a part-time coaching role at League Two side Shrewsbury Town.

"Signing Paul provides additional cover and also experience just in case we were to suffer another injury," Dickov told the club website.

Dikaba has been named in the Latics' 20-man squad for Saturday's League One clash with Charlton.
