Manager Frank Gray is calling for his Basingstoke team to show the same commitment against St Albans as they showed in defeat to Chelmsford.
Basingstoke were beaten 3-2 by the Essex club on Saturday, but Gray was encouraged by what he saw.
He told BBC Berkshire: "With a little bit more luck and the big decisions going our way then we'll be happy.
"We've just got to try and maintain that kind of performance and with more clinical finishing we'll get results."
Gray said he felt aggrieved not to have taken at least a point from the Chelmsford game.
"We're disappointed we lost because we didn't feel that the performance merited losing overall," he said.

"There were a few decisions that were debatable to say the least, but most went against us.
"In the second half we created one or two more opportunities, but when you create chances you just need to score.
"We didn't manage that, and we paid the penalty for it. But the general performance overall I thought was decent."
St Albans versus Basingstoke kicks off at 1945 BST on Tuesday 17 August.
