Worcester boss Carl Heeley was disappointed to start with defeat

Two goals inside the first 20 minutes sentenced Worcester City to defeat against Gainsborough Trinity on the opening day of the new season.

City received a rude awakening on their return to Conference North level when Jefferson Louis put the away side ahead inside three minutes.

Experienced winger Sam Aiston then doubled Gainsborough's advantage.

Neil Cartwright pulled a goal back on his debut just before half-time, but City could not break through again.

City boss Carl Heeley told BBC Hereford & Worcester:

"We didn't defend properly in the first 15 minutes. We were a little bit nervous to start and ultimately it's cost us."
