Former Burton Albion defender Darren Stride has signed a one-year deal with Blue Square Bet North side Alfreton.
The 34-year-old has been training with the Reds during pre-season and has also featured in several friendlies.
Stride came through the youth ranks with the Brewers but was released this summer after 17 years with the club.
Alfreton, who reached the play-off final last season, start their new campaign on Saturday with a home fixture against Hinckley.
