Dartford boss backs team to survive in Conference

Tony Burman
Burman believes his squad can survive in Blue Square South

Dartford manager Tony Burman is backing his present squad to survive in Conference South next season.

The runaway Ryman Premier League leaders need a single win to secure promotion following Monday's 2-1 success against Canvey Island.

Burman told BBC Radio Kent: "This is the best squad I've worked with and I'm backing them to survive in the Conference South.

"We want to go up as champions without relying on other results."

He added: "We have the right blend of youth and experience to do well. Had our season not been interrupted by bad weather we could have sewn up promotion by now.

"But I've been in this game long enough to know that as soon as you drop your guard then you get problems.

"I would also like to stress that we've kept the books balanced and not gone over budget. That's all a part of being a successful club."
