Draws are not enough for Charlton Athletic - Sam Sodje

Charlton defender Sam Sodje says that draws are not good enough if the Addicks are to snatch the second automatic promotion place.

The 30-year-old Nigeria international marked his 50th appearance for the club with the only goal in Easter Monday's 1-0 win over Carlisle.

Charlton are fifth, two points behind the top two with six games left.

Sodje told BBC Radio Kent: "Draws are no longer good enough for us. We all have to stay strong."

Charlton visit Southampton on Saturday before returning home to play Colchester on 13 April. After that face leaders Norwich (h), Exeter (a), Leeds (h) and Oldham (a).

Sodje, who secured Charlton's 20th win of the season against Carlisle, added: "It's a tough run-in but I believe we have the experience in the squad to handle the pressure.

"I think we have performed better against the bigger teams this season and I know our supporters will be in full cry when we play the likes of Norwich and Leeds."

Sodje's match-winner was his fourth for Charlton this season - one more than brother Akpo, who is on loan from Sheffield Wednesday.

"I know he's a striker and has an unfair advantage, but I'm determined to catch him up and overtake him," said Sam.
