Worcester City ease relegation fears with vital victory
Worcester City took a giant step towards securing their Blue Square South future with a vital victory at Staines Town.
Alfie Carter scored the all-important goal after 17 minutes but few could argue City were good value for the win.
Worcester goalkeeper Jake Meredith was hardly tested by a Staines side the is chasing a play-off spot.
The home side's misery was completed when Ali Chaaban was sent off in the second half after a second yellow card.
Worcester City manager Carl Heeley told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "Away from home against a side that is third in the league you are not going to get loads of chances.
"But we looked a threat and the chance that we did have we stuck it away.
"Other than a 25-yard drive in the first half that Jake [Meredith] gathered at the second attempt I can't remember them having another chance."
