Leamington ran Southern League Premier Division leaders Farnborough close but lost 3-2 at the New Windmill.
A Luke Corbett strike and an own goal by Simon Wormull had put Brakes back in the game only to be beaten by Andre McCollin's late effort.
"There wasn't a lot between us and them today," Leamington coach Richard Beale told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.
"Our lads made them look an average team today but obviously they're top of the league for a reason."
In Division One Midlands Atherstone Town lost 3-1 at Bury Town.
Stratford Town lost their Midland Alliance match with Barwell 1-0 while Studley drew 1-1 at home to Boldmere St Michaels.
