Paul Clayton on target as Alfreton Town secure win

Blue Square North

Alfreton Town striker Paul Clayton celebrated signing a new contract by grabbing one of the goals in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over Workington.

Josh Law nodded the Reds ahead on 55 minutes and 25-year-old Clayton, who has agreed an extended two-year deal, headed the second to seal the points.

The win means Nicky Law's side are now unbeaten in eight Blue Square North games and have moved into fourth place.

"The whole performance was pleasing. They are a form side," Law said.

"They have beaten Rushden & Diamonds and AFC Wimbledon to get where they are in the FA Trophy and we knew it was going to be a tough test. They came and gave it a good go and made it a tough game."

Farsley Celtic visit the Impact Arena on Saturday when the Reds will have the chance to record a third league double of the season, having won 3-0 at the Throstle Nest on the opening day of the campaign.
