Howie was the hero of the hour as he saved penalties for Wroxham
It has taken more than four hours of football and spanned a period of three weeks, but eventually Wroxham made it to the fifth round of the FA Vase at the expense of Armthorpe Welfare.
As with the game in Doncaster, Saturday's replay at Trafford Park ended 1-1 after extra time, so given the evenly-matched nature of the two legs perhaps it was of no surprise that the contest was eventually decided on penalties.
Wroxham goalkeeper Scott Howie was on hand to steer The Yachtsmen through.
Howie, who saved three penalties in the 2004 Conference play-off final when playing for Shrewsbury Town, kept out the Wellies' first spot-kick. They went on to miss their next two while Wroxham converted all of theirs'.
It was a harsh way for such an enthralling contest to end, but it means Wroxham can now concentrate on this weekend's tie at Royston. The winners are through to the quarter finals.
Lowestoft Town's winning run came to a disappointing end in Ryman Division One North - the leaders beaten 3-2 by Ware at Crown Meadow.
It was only the second defeat of the season for the Blues and Ware have taken four points off them, despite their lowly position.
In the Ridgeons Premier, Dereham Town collected three points with a victory over Histon Reserves while Norwich United picked up a creditable point after drawing with high-flying Stanway Rovers.
Kirkley and Pakefield were held to a draw at Haverhill.
In Division One there was another win for leaders Great Yarmouth Town, while Diss Town and Gorleston were also victorious.
