Paul Hurst praises Boston United's 10-0 Durham City win

Boston United

Boston United joint boss Paul Hurst has hailed his side's 10-0 win over Durham City as a "professional job".

Bottom side Durham have lost all 21 of their UniBond Premier League games this season, but Hurst said the Pilgrims deserved credit for their performance.

"To win 10-0 in a game at this level is an excellent result," Hurst told BBC Lincolnshire.

"Credit to the lads, they carried on in the second half when they could have taken their foot off the gas."

Danny Davidson hit a hat-trick - despite not coming on until early in the second half - while other goals came from Marc Newsham (2), new signing Nathan Koranteng (2), Mikel Suarez, Danny Sleath and Jamie Yates.

Hurst said: "It was five, six quite early on and they could have settled for that really, but we asked them before the game and at half-time to make sure that didn't happen and they really pushed on and put in an emphatic performance."

The Pilgrims' top scorer Newsham added: "We've prepared right in training this week and the gaffers have said to us just do things right like you would any other Saturday, which we did and the result's shown for itself really.

"We went in at half-time 4-0 up and we made a conscious effort as a team to push on, which we did and got the 10 which is very, very pleasing."

The victory lifted Boston to second in the league.
