Boston United have signed Gareth Davies from Unibond League rivals Matlock Town after making an official seven-day approach for the midfielder.
Davies, 25, made more than 130 Football League appearances for Chesterfield before being released in January 2008.
Last season he played for Gainsborough Trinity before moving to Matlock.
Boston joint-manager Rob Scott said: "It's a boost to bring in a player of Gareth's calibre and a good signing at an important stage of the season."
