Clubs track Boston schoolboy star

Boston United

Boston United say a number of professional clubs have been watching their schoolboy striker Tom Hopper.

The 15-year-old became the youngest first-team player in Boston history when he came on as a substitute in the UniBond Challenge Cup game on Tuesday.

Pilgrims officials say due to his age they cannot contract him to the club.

Joint boss Paul Hurst said: "There's been a lot of interest. When he went on I thought he did quite well. He almost grabbed a goal and put himself about."

Hurst added: "He certainly didn't look out of place so that's credit to him."

Hurst says the club is resigned to losing him to another club in the future and admitted: "I think his situation will probably be taken out of our hands, but if we can involve him for the near-future, he's someone we may have a look at and he may add to the squad."
