Adam Le Fondre scored two goals and missed a penalty as Rotherham comfortably saw off Lincoln City.
The 22-year-old striker latched on to a long ball from defence and beat Rob Burch with a powerful shot for his 13th goal of the season.
Le Fondre's second came courtesy of a stunning overhead kick from Tom Pope's cross eight minutes from time.
And in the dying moments Le Fondre was upended in the area by Janos Kovacs, but failed to convert the spot-kick.
Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"I thought Adam's first goal was the best goal because of what he had to do, the way he went by the lad, drifted in between the centre-half and the full-back to get in a great position and finished it well.
"The other one is one of those that either goes in or goes over the bar.
"Then he had the penalty for his hat-trick but unfortunately it didn't happen - but he'll get a hat-trick this season because he's a massive threat.
"He's one of the best strikers in League Two and he's hungry for more."
