Consistent Redditch please Whild

Redditch United manager Gary Whild says his players deserve credit for their recent consistent performances.

Whild's side were beaten by Kettering in the FA Cup's fourth qualifying round replay, but the Redditch boss said his side had benefited from the games.

"The lads put in two great shifts there and took a lot of confidence," Whild told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"There is a level of consistency there now and there is no reason why we shouldn't go and get results."

Redditch are in a tough a run of Blue Square North matches at present, and face a trip to Fleetwood Town this weekend, their third away match against a top-seven side in only eight days.

"Fair play to our lads, they can take a lot of positives out of the past five or six weeks," Whild added.

"The performances have been consistent and the lads are giving their all, and as a manager you can't ask for any more than that."

And despite a 2-nil defeat at Blue Square North leaders Southport on Tuesday, Whild hopes his side can perform against big-spending Fleetwood Town this weekend.

"It's unbelievable when you see the financial commitment there is at their club, so it will be difficult," Whild said.

"But we'll go there on a decent run with a lot of confidence. The main thing is that the lads are giving their all and there is no reason why we shouldn't get a positive result," he added.
