Line quits Drayton for Hednesford

Hednesford Town have turned to Simon Line from Unibond side Market Drayton Town to revive their fortunes.

Line, who has been at Drayton for seven years, has led the Shropshire club from county football to second position in the Unibond South.

"It's a wrench to go, but opportunities like this don't come along very often. This is a real challenge," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.

Hednesford have been struggling in the Zamaretto premier - two divisions up.

"They're a club geared up for success, and I think my record at Drayton means I've earned the right to give it a go."

Delwyn Humphreys, the manager at Drayton's Shropshire neighbours Shifnal Town, has quit there to join Line as his assistant.

Market Drayton chairman Alex Mutch told BBC Radio Shropshire: "It's a blow, but he's ambitious and has gone to a bigger club. We thank him for all he's done for us, and we wish the very best."
