Mark Clyde's first-half header earned Worcester City their second league win of the season as they beat Blue Square South leaders Dover Athletic.
City boss Richard Dryden felt his side had been good value for their narrow 1-0 victory.
"It was a great result and a hard-working performance and we probably deserved it," he said.
"We got caught cold in the first five minutes when they hit the bar, but overall I am pretty pleased.
Dover Athletic arrived at St George's Lane with a record of only one league defeat in 11 Blue Square South matches while City had only one victory to show for their early-season efforts.
He struggles to train but he drags himself out there
Richard Dryden on Mark Clyde's contribution
Other than the early scare when a Dover effort struck the City crossbar, Richard Dryden felt his team had done well to restrict the visitors to long-range efforts.
"I think Ben [Hinchcliffe] has made a great save early on from 25 yards," he said.
"But if Ben is making saves from 25-30 yards the back four and midfield are doing their jobs by not letting them get into the 18-yard box."
Clyde's decisive header came on 34 minutes when he reacted quickest to finish off a scramble in the Dover penalty area.
Richard Dryden was quick to single out Mark Clyde for particular praise: "I think he has one off-game which was the Thurrock match. Apart from that he has been a different class.
"He struggles to train but he drags himself out there and competes while he is confident on the ball.
"Whoever plays at the back - him, Tom Kemp or Wayne Daniel - we have got three good centre-halves."
City's victory lifts them out of the Blue Square South relegation places as they are now two points clear of the drop zone.
