City boss Dryden desperate to win

Worcester City take on Bourne Town in the FA Cup at St George's Lane on Saturday with manager Richard Dryden 'desperate' for a quiet weekend.

Dryden knows that, if City do make any headlines, it will be only because they have been the victims of a cup shock.

"If we win 10-0 we are never going to be on the front page," Dryden told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "But, if we get beaten we'll be there.

"With the money side, and progressing in the Cup, I am desperate to win it."

After a poor start to their Blue Square South season, the City boss knows a good FA Cup run could be just the tonic for a team in need of a lift - and insists that nothing has been left to chance in his plans to face the United Counties League side from Lincolnshire.

"I went down on Tuesday night to see them play," he added. "I've got a rough idea of how they play so we'll do a bit of work on what we might come up against.

"It's probably like us playing Coventry or Leicester or someone like that.

"It is a no-lose situation for them and definitely a no-win for us as they will be coming here and having a right go.

"They might have the ball for longer than we might like but we have got to be disciplined and professional."

City will again have to make do without experienced central defender Wayne Daniel who is injured, while striker Marco Adaggio could again be missing.
