'Lazy' Telford players face exit

Larry Chambers
Larry Chambers - appalled by lack of commitment in some Telford players

A number of players could be on their way out at AFC Telford, after criticism by the management team.

"Too many of them are going through the motions," assistant boss Larry Chambers told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"The second half (of the 2-1 Northwich defeat) was the worst I've seen here in terms of passion and commitment.

"There are players in the comfort zone on contract who probably think they're here until the end of the season - but I can tell you: there will be changes."

Chambers and manager Rob Smith kept the players locked in the dressing room after the Northwich game to make their feelings known.

"There was a lot of finger-pointing," he admitted, "and Rob and I will be tackling this head-on.

"It's not good enough. Some of the players don't seem to see what a privilege it is to play for AFC Telford - they don't seem to be showing any desire, and are relying on others in the side to do the job."
