Banbury United boss Billy Jeffrey is delighted and relieved at his side's first league win of the season.

After drawing four of their first five Southern League Premier Division games, Banbury moved up to 11th with Monday's 2-1 win over Swindon Supermarine.

Jeffrey told BBC Oxford: "There have been games we've been unlucky not to finish with three points. We battled well and earned the right to win."

Next up for Banbury is Saturday's home date with leaders Truro City.

And Jeffrey is hopeful that, having now moved into the top half with seven points from six games, Monday's win will help to breed confidence amongst the players.

"Being such a young side," he said, "I think the three points are so important for confidence because we've got some big games coming up."
