Company takes over Truro finances

Truro City's chairman Kevin Heaney has relinquished commercial control of the club to a Truro-based company.

FS Media Solutions, an offshoot of solicitors Follett Stock, will now take responsibility for generating income at Treyew Road.

Heaney said: "I shall have nothing to with do the day-to-day running of the commercial side.

"I will concentrate solely on my own development business and of course on my role as chairman," he added.

The news that FS Media Solutions will play an active role in running Truro City follows an announcement on Thursday that vice-chairman Chris Webb would not be continuing his role with the club.

Webb is stepping down after 30 years of involvement with Truro City.

Chris Lingard, a partner with FS Media Solutions has refuted rumours that Webb was pushed out of the door at Treyew Road.

He told BBC Radio Cornwall: "Chris absolutely went of his own accord. He has become a very good friend over the course of the last year.

Over the last few seasons things like sponsorship have not been particularly advanced. The clubhouse has been allowed to decline a little bit and we're turning all of that around.

"After working seven days a week for the last five years or more, Chris has decided he wants a change.

"He is going to be there at the matches next season. He's a dear friend and we want him involved," Lingard added.

Truro have experienced a meteoric rise up the football ladder over the past five years, winning four promotions and the 2007 FA Vase.

A large part of Truro's success has been attributed to the money Heaney has put into the club.

A statement from FS Media Solutions said relying on one benefactor was unhealthy for a football club and that their role would entail generating income from different sources.

Lingard said: "Over the last few seasons things like sponsorship have not been particularly advanced.

"The clubhouse has been allowed to decline a little bit and we're turning all of that around."

One of the options being suggested for Truro to generate extra money is to use the club's ground as a venue for music concerts.

Lingard was keen to stress that Heaney would still provide the club with financial support, saying the chairman "will continue to be a major benefactor".
