David Newton feels he has appointed "the right man" as Boston manager
Boston United are set to unveil their new manager at York Street at 1830 BST on Thursday.
The new boss will succeed Steve Welsh whose contract was not renewed after the Pilgrims finished 16th in the Unibond Premier Division last season.
Chairman David Newton told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "We wanted someone with a lot of non-league experience but also a lot of knowledge of the players.
"I think we've got someone with the right balance of those attributes."
Newton added: "We interviewed four people and any of those would have been good appointments, but the one we've got is certainly the best of them.
"It's not a name which has been linked to the job previously, but we think we've got the right man."
Welsh, who became manager after the departure of Tommy Taylor in November 2008, is likely to remain at York Street and return to his previous role as youth team boss.
