The consortium looking to take over at Bromsgrove Rovers has again called on chairman Tom Herbert to stand down.

Consortium spokesman Phil Baker told BBC Hereford & Worcester that manager Rod Brown's resignation had been the final straw for many fans.

"Tom told us that he intended to take Bromsgrove Rovers into the Football League but we have gone backwards.

"The era of one person owning and controlling small football clubs is over," he said.

Brown announced he was to leave the Southern League Midlands Division club last week to take up the manager's job at Midland Alliance club Stratford Town.

After a poor season on the field, Baker claims an increasing number of Rovers fan are becoming disillusioned by Herbert's tenure at the Victoria Ground.

"We have gone further backwards rather than forwards and many supporters have been alienated resulting in their boycotting matches last season," he said.

"Now is the time to hand over the reins so a new regime has plenty of time before the next season to appoint a manager and get a stable squad of players together.

"Bromsgrove Rovers would be better off being owned and run by its fans."
