Webb has no regrets over Linnets

Keith Webb insists he has no regrets after leaving King's Lynn after nearly two and a half years in charge.

Webb resigned after the Linnets' final Blue Square North game, and he told BBC Radio Norfolk it was time for a change.

"I've had my time at King's Lynn, thoroughly enjoyed it, learnt a lot and made some terrific friends there.

"I wish the club all the best, especially in the present situation that it finds itself in, so no regrets whatsoever," he said.

Webb led the Linnets to the Southern League title in 2008, and followed that up by guiding the team to mathematical safety in a tumultuous Blue Square North campaign.

Having lost a major financial backer at the start of the year the club now faces demotion over ground-grading issues.

Webb said he felt the way the board were planning to deal with their plight did not match his own way of thinking.

"I had a meeting with the chairman about eight days before [I left], he spelt out what he and the board were prepared to do, and how they were going to go about running the club in the present climate.

"I just felt that at the time it just wasn't how I wanted to go, I felt it was the best way to part company while we could," he said.

Webb was a coach at Norwich City for 20 years before joining Lynn, and he admits he is not sure what his next step will be.

"I honestly don't know, and that makes it a little bit exciting, one door closes and another opens, so we shall see.

"I'd like to stay in football, but there's better people than me who're out of the game, it comes with the territory, you're out sometimes and you're in sometimes," he said.
