Norwich fans are facing up to third-tier football for the first time in 50 years

The board of Norwich City have begun talks over how to move the club forward following relegation to League One.

Who will manage the team, behind-the-scenes cuts and board members' futures are set to be high on the agenda.

Editor of magazine FC Business Ryan McKnight told BBC Radio Norfolk the current regime had to move on.

"The responsibility has to lie with the managers at the top of the business, they haven't taken steps in line with expectations at the club," he said.

"The expectations of Norwich City, at the very minimum, are to be a solid Championship side, they just haven't run the business in accordance with those expectations.

"In addition, the club isn't in a fantastic position financially either, and really they're not going to be able to move the club forward," he added.

Majority shareholder Michael Wynn Jones has told BBC Radio Norfolk that the board accepted mistakes had been made over the past two-and-a-half years.

High on the board's agenda during Wednesday's talks will be the matter of who will manage the first team in League One next season.

The Canaries' caretaker manager Bryan Gunn has said he wants the job on a permanent basis.

But newspaper reports in recent days have suggested that Rotherham boss Mark Robins, a former team-mate of Gunn's, could be in line to take the position.
