Workington boss praises striker

Blue Square North

Workington Reds manager Darren Edmondson was full of compliments for striker Andrew Hardman following Tuesday 1-0 win against Hucknall.

The former Carlisle youth joined the Reds in February 2008 and having made a recent impact on the Reds first team Edmondson is happy with his progress.

"He looked sharp again in certain parts of the game and he's playing out of position," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"The way he trained through the winter has held him in good stead."

With safety all but secured in the Blue Square North, Edmondson admitted he is already looking to the summer.

A revamp and additions to the squad are expected during the off-season and the former Carlisle and York player is determined to make sure his side are well prepared for next season's campaign.

"We've spoken to a couple of players that we're hoping are going to join us in the summer on top of what we've got," he said.

"We've got Craig Johnson coming back, and David Hewson coming back to this squad and then we're looking if we can take one or two from Carlisle.

"Hopefully we can have a squad to start with that everybody will look at and say if we start well we can do something next season."
