Hinckley United's slim hopes of a place in the Blue Square North play-offs all but ended on Saturday with a demoralising 5-0 defeat at Gateshead.
The Knitters were outclassed from the start and the result was never in doubt from the moment Lee Novak fired title-chasing Gateshead ahead on 15 minutes.
A Wayne Phillips strike made it 2-0 and second-half goals from Novak, Darryn Stamp and Lee Turnbull sealed the rout.
Hinckley are now in ninth spot, seven points off the play-offs.
However the Knitters have also played more games than all their rivals.
