Truro City are now eight points clear at the top of the Southern League's Division One South & West after a 1-0 win at Paulton Rovers on Monday night.
An own goal from Paulton's Stuart Tovey broke the deadlock on 62 minutes.
It means City are eight points clear of second-placed AFC Totton with a game in hand and 10 clear of Windsor & Eton in third who have played two less.
"We've come good at the right stage of the season," vice-chairman Chris Webb told BBC Radio Cornwall.
The victory was the first of three successive away trips which Webb feels will define City's season.
"We're travelling away to North Leigh in Oxford on Saturday and the following Tuesday we're away to Thatcham," he said.
"So three major games now for the club, and I think if we get nine points out of nine we can safely say we'll have one hand on the trophy."
