Welsh has overseen the Pilgrims' rise out of the relegation zone
Boston United manager Steve Welsh says Saturday's 2-1 victory over Marine was a big win for the club.
Paul Ellender's first goal since his return and Ricky Miller's fifth goal in five games saw the Pilgrims move 17th, two points off the relegation places.
Welsh told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "Points make prizes at the minute and I'm just delighted to get three points.
"At this stage we've just got to keep chipping away and picking points up and not worry about anyone else."
He continued: "I've just said to the boys that on Tuesday [against Bradford Park Avenue] we came back from a goal down to get a point and today we've gone one stage further.
"That's got to fill us full of optimism."
Welsh also praised 20-year-old Miller, but believes the credit for his signing from Spalding United should go to his assistant Andrew Stanhope.
He said: "I can't accept any credit really for Ricky Miller. As soon as Stan came to the club he was pestering me to go and see this lad.
"We kept putting it off, eventually went to see him and then thought we'd take a punt on him, and to be fair to the lad he just wants to play football.
"I think he's settled in very quickly and he's just what we needed."
