Lincolnshire give spinners trial

Mark Fell
Fell is hoping some of the local spinners can impress

Lincolnshire are looking at three spinners - Karanjit Bansal, Liam Andrews and Tom Ullyat - ahead of the new county cricket season.

Bansal, who came through the county's youth system, Andrews from Gainsborough and Ullyat from near Mansfield will be tested by the county's coach Mark Fell.

Fell said: "I've put feelers out all over the place to see if there's any ex-professionals available.

"But there aren't many spinners around so I'm looking at some of our lads."

He continued: "We've got a tremendous amount of talent in the Lincolnshire area. Our development side won the East of England Development Championship last year and, of course, our first team won the Minor Counties Eastern Division - and that's with eight or nine Lincolnshire born players involved.

"It is a policy of ours that we play Lincolnshire-born players but it is important to bring in a couple of outsiders in or a couple of professionals."
