Alfreton Town were held to a fourth draw in five Blue Square North games on a frustrating afternoon away against Vauxhall Motors on Saturday.
But despite the dropped points the Reds are only one place and three points off the play-offs and also have a game in hand on fifth-placed Stalybridge.
Motors went ahead when Lee Furlong swept the ball past Steve Dickinson.
But Anthony Howell equalised seconds before the break, shooting home at the near post after a fine run.
The Reds piled forward in the second half but could not find a winner despite creating the better chances.
Nicky Law's side are next in action on Tuesday when they have an away game against Stafford Rangers.
