Charles has seen Gainsborough win only four home games this season
Gainsborough Trinity's indifferent home form continued as they lost 4-0 to Burscough in Blue Square North.
Ryan Wade put Burscough ahead after an error by Adam Sollitt, and doubled their advantage before half-time.
Second-half goals from Michael Yates and Peter Heler sealed the win, while Trinity's Liam Needham hit the bar.
Manager Steve Charles told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "It was shocking. So many players were off their game and we made bad decisions all over the field."
Trinity are now ninth in the table, seven points off the play-off places but having played three more games than most of the teams above them.
Charles added: "We're in the position we're in because we're clearly not good enough.
"No disrespect to Burscough but they weren't a good side and on a different day, if the lads perform to their abilities, we win the game.
"We've not got enough leaders when it matters, when the chips are down. "
