Blue Square North leaders Gateshead have signed former France Under-17 international defender Stephane Pelonde for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old was at Le Havre from 2002/03 until last season and could stay at the International Stadium next season if the move is a success.

Gateshead boss Ian Bogie told the club's website: "He has certainly looked the part in training.

"If he can transfer that into a match situation we will have a real find."
