Ref had no choice, says McFarland

Burton Albion manager Roy McFarland believes referee Steve Creighton was correct to abandon the Brewers' away game against Ebbsfleet on Thursday.

Creighton called off the match after an hour because of heavy snow.

McFarland, whose side were trailing 1-0 at the time, told BBC Radio Derby: "We got out of jail a little bit.

"But players were starting to slip, the linesmen and ref couldn't see the lines, so the ref had no option but to call it off."

The match was stopped just past the hour with Ebbsfleet leading 1-0 thanks to Jamie Hand's fourth-minute goal.
