Alfreton Town suffered their first loss in eight league games with a 3-1 defeat at home by Gateshead on Saturday.

The Reds were under-fire in the first half after goals from Stephen Turnbull and Lee Novak put the visitors 2-0 up.

A defensive mix-up then saw Novak get his second goal of the match before the home side got small consolation as Paul Clayton found the net in injury time.

Alfreton are six points off the play-offs in the Blue Square North and face Vauxhall Motors on Saturday.
