Rushen win the Railway Cup Final

Football

Rushen United overcame old firm rivals Peel 1-0 at the Bowl on Sunday to lift the Railway Cup.

Steve Riding's 61st minute strike was enough to secure the Spaniards' first silverware in seven years.

Skipper Paul Jones was awarded the man-of-the-match award and believes a new era could be underway at the club.

"We're a young side and we're happy to make a bit of history at the club. We're still in with a shout in the league, so that is our aim now."

He added: "Hopefully, we can carry the momentum forward and give Geordies and Peel a good run for their money in the title race."
