Banbury boss Kieran Sullivan said he was relieved after claiming a derby win over neighbours Brackley.
The Puritans, who have had a poor run in the Southern League Premier, claimed a victory against in-form opposition.
"For everybody concerned we were looking to get a positive result and we have done it in style, " said a delighted Sullivan.
"If you look at Brackley's results they were unbeaten in six in the league and we hadn't won for a couple of months."
Despite the win, Banbury remain third from bottom of the table and face another derby at Oxford City on Saturday 3 January.
