Kent football results and summary

Non League

Welling United moved to within three points of the Blue Square South play-off places thanks to a 2-1 win over Bath City.

Charlie Sheringham and Loui Fazackerley scored the first-half goals for the Wings, who climb to seventh.

Manager Andy Ford told BBC Radio Kent: "We cannot quite get in those play-off slots. Some others lost so it has tightened it up a bit."

Dover, Maidstone, Tonbridge, Dartford and Margate also won.

Dover's 2-1 win at Horsham means they are 17 points clear at the top of the Ryman Premier Division. Shaun Welford scored the winner, having hit the woodwork on three separate occasions.

Manager Andy Hessenthaler said: "After conceding a penalty, where I don't know what the ref was doing, we responded and it was a comfortable win."

We lose a sucker punch of a goal just before half time and gave them a sniff

Ramsgate assistant manager Danny Ward on their game with Maidstone
Maidstone United came from 2-0 down to beat Ramsgate 3-2 in the Kent derby. Lloyd Blackman grabbed the late winner to put Maidstone into the play-off zone.

Maidstone co-manager Lloyd Hume said: "It was a typical Kent derby, end-to-end stuff and I am glad we came out on top."

Ramsgate assistant manager Danny Ward added: "For the first half we dominated. We should have been four or five up. We lose a sucker punch of a goal just before half time and gave them a sniff."

Tonbridge are third thanks to a 3-0 win over Canvey Island. Anthony Storey, Jamie Cade and Carl Rook scored the goals.

Manager Tommy Warrilow said: "They were one place below us so it was very important we won to try to get as close to Dover as possible."

Dartford had their best result of the season, beating promotion chasing Carshalton 2-0. Tommy Osborne, who scored the first goal of his Dartford career in November, scored the first goal.

Although 14th in the table, manager Tony Burman says teams in the promotion chase need to look over their shoulder.

"They will have to, but we are also looking over our shoulder at teams below us," said Burman.

"Three or four wins and people say we may get into the play-offs and that is what we are aiming to do."

Margate got their first win in five, beating Harlow 4-2. Cray Wanderers missed the chance to go top of Ryman South as they lost 2-1 to Godalming. Ashford and Whitstable also won.
